I was recently working at a well known music festival in the United Kingdom. While we were running through the pre-festival rounds and discussing things to consider I asked “well, what do we wear?” Given that we were working and not just boozing ourselves stupid over the weekend I thought maybe we needed to look a little bit smarter than the average festival raver. “Just wear normal clothes” they said, they live in London and I don’t; definitions of normal are vastly different from here to there.
So I wore a shirt, a smart/casual summer shirt. Pale green, slightly loosely fitted from Jack Wills and it worked. The eyes from the ladies were there, the envious looks, too, greeted me over the course of the weekend. New sunglasses and a slick haircut helped as well as I strode around the backstage areas looking right at home. I could get used to that kind of look, and that kind of attention.
