When it comes to fashion fantasies, an invitation to attend the Love Ball is pretty much as good as it gets. The white tie ball is an annual fashion extravaganza where A-listers and royalty showcase their very biggest gowns. If you’ve ever wondered what kind if occasion demands those couture floorsweepers we see each season on the catwalk, here’s your answer.

The ball is the brainchild of Russian model and philanthropist Natalia Vodianova and is located in different glamorous locations each year. With a gala dinner, decadent catwalk shows and a charity auction the Ball, in aid of Natalia’s Naked Heart Foundation, attracts a star studded guestlist.

This year’s Love Ball will be under the high patronage of Albert II, Prince of Monaco, and Charlene, Princess of Monaco. It’s being held in Monaco, in the Opera Garnier de Monte Carlo and theme is 1960s Riviera – so we can expect some serious ritz along with the royalty.

So the big question is obviously, what to wear for such a swanky occasion After much head scratching and late night shoe changes, I decided on an enchanting strapless gown by Oscar de la Renta. With intricate sequin embellishment and a flattering tipped hem, the catwalk dress is absolutely perfect for mingling with princesses.

To keep it fresh, I’ve gone for harder accessories – a Christopher Kane clutch, Shourouk for Swarovski earrings and black patent Louboutins. But there were plenty of conundrums – would the gold Jimmy Choos be more appropriate or the rivet studded LK Bennetts Beauty-wise its all about undone elegance with plaits and deepest red nails and lips.
