Why Tunics are a Fashion Staple

Posted on May 24, 2016 at 10:27 am

Tunics are a versatile option for any season. Perfect to wear as part of a layered look or as a more summery option, there are plenty of benefits. If you haven’t already discovered tunics, now is the time to start wearing them.

Tunics are great as the summer approaches because there are lots of loose, floaty options available. They will look great with a summer tan and a pair of sandals. Just be careful that you don’t choose anything too short if you want to wear it with bare legs – many tunics are designed to be layered up. The shops are currently filled with pretty tunics in all kinds of colours, so it’s an excellent time to start buying. Choose floral patterns and bright colours to go with the season, and wear a denim jacket on top if it starts to get chilly.

Winter tunics will often be shorter and tighter as they’re designed to be worn with layers underneath. You can put them over skinny jeans, leggings or thick tights depending on your preferred style. They will also look great with chunkier winter shoes; either long or short boots will work very well. Wear thick knitted cardigans or a loose jumper to create more layers and keep warm.

Bobble Hats to Keep You Warm This Winter

Posted on January 25, 2016 at 5:27 pm

Believe it or not, bobble hats are in this season. They’ve always been warm, but they’ve certainly not always been fashionable. Times have changed though, and this winter, if you’re not keeping warm in a bobble hat, you’re going to look out of place.

This versatile trend is suitable for both men and women, and bobble hats of all colours, shapes and sizes are available for everyone to buy. For the most on-trend look, choose an oversized hat with a large bobble – a bobble made of faux fur is an especially popular option for women.

Bobble hats are widely available in high street shops as well as online, so you can spend as much or as little as you like. As they’re light, they’ll be easy to deliver and shouldn’t cost you a fortune. You might want to get yours quickly though – as the weather has become colder, they’ve been flying off the shelves. If you’re feeling more adventurous, you might even want to knit your own!

Gillets: This Season’s Most Fashionable Look

Posted on December 23, 2015 at 4:42 pm

Gillets have always been around, but often not in the most fashionable forms. Originally the kind of clothing favoured by outdoor enthusiasts, horse riders and rock climbers, who would have known they would find such a niche in the world of fashion? But they have, and it looks as though they might be here to stay.

A gillet perhaps isn’t the best outfit choice for keeping you warm, but when worn with a jumper or long-sleeved t-shirt, it serves as an excellent fashion accessory for women. Wearing a gillet is a great way to finish off an outfit and make a fashionable statement. It might also be very useful after some of the Christmas over-indulgence; adding another layer to cover your stomach a little until you’ve had time to get back into your gym routine is a welcome opportunity.

Fur-trimmed gillets are particularly popular this season and by wearing one, you’re sure to look on-trend well into the New Year. There may be a fur trim around the collar or down the front of the garment, and you may also find versions which are made entirely from faux fur. The only difficulty is when it comes to washing your gillet – often faux fur will only be suitable for dry cleaning. If you’re not willing to put that much effort into washing your clothing, be careful which styles you choose to purchase and always check the label before buying.

Hoodie and jacket

Posted on November 30, 2015 at 9:16 am

This is a look I have started to rock more so out of necessity than any over riding sense of fashion. I was going to visit my friend for dinner and the journey involved no small amount of walking either side of a bus trip. I put a shirt on, threw my jacket on over the top and stepped out the front door. No way. No way, no how. I went back inside, charged upstairs and put on a hoodie – usually an item that is not so popular in the fashion world.

This look, though, kind of works – and I know I am not the first person to try it, so I am not exactly reinventing the wheel, but it looks pretty good. It adds a nice layering effect to the clothes, a contrast of colours and textures and, perhaps most importantly of all, keeps me way warmer than wearing just one of them would. I would almost describe it as being toasty. Almost.

Winter is coming

Posted on November 2, 2015 at 10:49 am

Winter is probably my favourite time of the year when it comes to being lazy. It is an excuse to stay indoors, in our sweats, and chill the hell out while all under the guise of “keeping warm.” Cups of tea, soup and blankets are the order of the day as we shun the outside world in favour of Netflix and chill. But what about when it comes to fashion? When we have to venture outside? Even easier.

This is the best time of the year for lazy fashion folk such as myself. Do you want to know why? Throw on a jumper and you’re done. At a push you might need to throw on a jacket – but you can afford to wear the same one every single day and no one will call you up on it. It’ll just be “cold.” Perfect.
