Sort your New Years Eve Outfit

Posted on December 16, 2013 at 10:12 am

There’s one time of year where women can dress as sparkly as they like, and that day is New Years Eve. We’d argue that it’s a case of the sparkly and shinier the better. A great look this year is wearing a shiny metallic dress. These can be found in high street stores, and they’re often tight fitted with a shine like no other.

Festive colours don’t die out on Christmas day, and even on New Years Eve, you can be dressed perfectly in reds and greens. A black dress can be seen as a safe option, but this doesn’t always have to be the case. We like black dresses with minor details, and these details, whether its gems, jewels, or a different colour fabric stitched on in a pattern will only stand out as they do on a black dress.

If you are going to wear black, make sure your shoes boast some vibrant shine or colour. Avoid wearing plain black outfit, save that outfit for a typical night out, and get a sparkly, shiny or even metallic outfit for your NYE do.

Couture Fashion Week: Giambattista Valli In A Flowery Frame Of Mind

Posted on December 15, 2013 at 7:40 am

Giambattista Valli’s haute couture collection was the final showing of the day and it found the designer in typically flowery – that’s extremely flowery – frame of mind.

On a catwalk covered in plump ivory carpet and winding their way through a series of antique sculptures clad in nothing but garlands of waxy blooms, models wore the quintessentially feminine clothing this name is known for. Valli clearly has a certain type of femininity in mind, however, and it’s unlikely ever to make an appearance at the average workplace.

Organaza coats loosely following a mid-Twentieth Century couture line came trimmed with white roses at collars and cuffs. Goddess dresses in silk chiffon were boldly printed with more of that same flower only in deepest red. There was a spray of neon blossom at the shoulder of a cocktail dress here, what appeared to be an entire bouquet inserted into a neck line there.

It’s fair to say that, overall, little attention was paid to anything as banal as practicalities. It is, after all, the autumn/winter season but it would be nothing short of futile to brave the elements in such whimsical confections.

Add to the mix full-bouncing ballerina skirts and floor-sweeping trains aplenty and the collection was, instead, an unabashed flight of fancy – no holds barred.

Christmas Jumpers are Back

Posted on December 4, 2013 at 9:20 am

It’s that time of year again, the Christmas jumpers are back, and they’re back with a bang. Many people have their own ‘special’ Christmas jumper, and it often gets shoved into the bottom of a drawer, or even put up in the loft, but it’s time to bring them out.

Christmas jumpers are quite often noted for being tacky, perhaps with a reindeer printed on and a red bobble for a nose sticking out. They tend to contain the festive colours red, white and green, and we recommend wearing your Christmas jumper with a fully buttoned shirt underneath.

You’ll see them out and about literally everywhere; in the shops, in the supermarkets, at work, and in restaurants so don’t miss out. Not much can get you in the mood for Christmas quite like a Christmas jumper, so pull yours out the cupboard and start wearing it today. Only 21 more days until Christmas!

Hair Painting – Proving an extremely popular technique

Posted on October 14, 2013 at 9:31 am

Hair painting can be a popular way of adding highlights to a person’s hair. Rather than using foils, large part of hair are taken and painted freehand, and it can be quite scary, especially is it’s not been done before.

We recommend you always see a professional when it comes t hair painting, otherwise it can look uneven, and amateur. Hair painting in doesn’t only have to apply to highlighting, and 2013 is seeing more and more people using the technique to apply bold colours.

Like painting, hair painting can be seen as an art, and it can often take quite a long time to perfect. One benefit of using hair painting is because of roots. Hairs is forever growing, and as the roots begin to show the colours drop, and eventually become replace with the natural colour. This doesn’t affect hair painting as much is would foil, because hair painting can work well with natural colours, and you’re less lightly going to need to run to a salon for a top up.

Once hair painting is complete its fundamental to let it dry naturally, it well make the hair seem healthier and less damaged by the heat. Keep up with the trend this year, and use hair painting to display the colour you crave.
