Sam Rollinson Returns To Showcase The Photo-Ready Jean For J Brand’s New Campaign

Posted on January 4, 2014 at 3:06 pm

In May, J Brand turned its attention to party dressing with a new capsule collection of sleek, ultra-luxe black jeans. The premium stretch jeans came in three cuts, all featuring 24-karat gold-plated hardware, and new Brit ‘It’ model, Sam Rollinson, was cast as the face of the campaign.

Cut to today and the cult denim label behind everyone’s favourite skinnies is back with the brand new Autumn Winter 2013 campaign – and Sam’s made a return too. Tuning into that tough chic vibe, the model strikes a pose in the new photo-ready style, aka: the season’s hero denim.

It’s an amazing patented technological fabric which basically creates a photoshop’d silhouette, giving the slimmest, smoothest appearance with a unique holding power that is super comfortable and never sags. We advise you get them before they go.

British fashion photographer Craig McDean is the man behind the lens. ‘Working with Sam Rollinson on the J Brand fall campaign was a pure delight,’ he exclusively told Grazia Daily. ‘She brought a sense of professionalism and her own unique character and beauty to the pictures that expressed the modernity of the clothes perfectly. It was a great collaboration.’ Did anyone say One To Watcj

Couture Fashion Week: Dior Show Report

Posted on December 21, 2013 at 2:17 pm

No one could ever accuse Raf Simons, now in his third couture season at Dior, of being short of ideas. The collection he showed in Paris this afternoon was extraordinary both in terms of the clothes and, maybe even more so, the mise-en-scene. All the more remarkable was the fact that, unlike so much contemporary fashion, Simons’ ideas were entirely original. Any references to the work of others – M Dior aside, of course – were conspicuous by their absence.

‘I began by looking at women from different continents and cultures who wear couture, their personal style,’ the designer stated. ‘The collection evolved to be about Dior not just being about Paris and France, but about the rest of the world and how many fashion cultures impact on the house and on myself.”

The concept was in a sense, a literal one: the realms of Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas were all looked at and reflected the international nature of the luxury goods industry today. Influences though were so intriguingly spliced together and juxtaposed that it became rather more than that.

La Parisienne, who must remain at the heart of this great French fashion institution, could be seen in a short black belted trench jacket worn with a knee-length organza skirt. The American sportswear tradition resonated in a floor length trapezoid silk gown printed with bold (and by now signature) stripes. More elaborate pieces encrusted with tiny jewelled flowers spoke of Japan, richly coloured beaded fringing and caging of Africa, and so forth.

As if the collection weren’t ambitious enough, earlier in the day, Simons gathered together four of the world’s most feted photographers – Patrick Demarchelier, Terry Richardson, Paolo Roversi and Willy Vanderperre – all of whom shot the collection in their own style and against equally distinct sets backstage.

The results were projected against the backdrop and so, as models walked, they were dwarfed by images of themselves in the very same clothes. It looked spectacular: beautiful and, again, unlike anything that has been seen before.

Earlier in the day, Dior CEO Sidney Toledano told Women’s Wear Daily that the couture arm of this label is currently enjoying double-digit growth. The reason behind that, he explained, was Simons’ ability to attract new and younger clients from international markets. “Couture has to be creative and innovative” as well as commercially viable, he said. “It has to bring new vision.” And this collection had that in spades.

Exclusive! Watch Michelle Williams Talk About Her Daughter And Love Of The High Street

Posted on December 19, 2013 at 11:09 am

Michelle Williams grabbed headlines back in 2012 when she rocked up at the BAFTAs in a H&M dress. Now in an exclusive interview about Oz the Great and Powerful, the Hollywood starlet has gushed about her love of affordable fashion. When she was asked if she likes the British high street she squealed ‘I LOVE IT! I love affordable fashion – that is my thing.’ But sadly when you’re a movie star you can’t just pop to Toppers, as she said she would love to go to the high street mecca but is worried she would get mobbed.

Michelle is also a big fan of British style as she said: ‘Boy every time I come to London I get whiplash – people really got it going on here. I wish that was my gift, but it’s not. I’m always very impressed by the people I see on the street here.’ Now Michelle, don’t be so hard on yourself, you have had your share of red carpet hits. To prove it, we have gathered up plenty of evidence in the gallery below to prove that she does have the style gene.

Michelle is notoriously private but opened up about her adorable little cutey Matilda, and added a ‘n’aww’ expression to everything she said about her. When we asked Michelle if she got to keep any of her Oz costumes she revealed that the costume department made a little crown and Oz-tastic skirt especially for Matilda – ‘they even made a crown for her doll.’ Although Matilda hasn’t seen her mummy’s film, it did make her think that she could fily. Michelle explained: ‘In the beginning she would very sweetly come home from school and ask me to show her flying.’ Isn’t that just the cutest

So what are you waiting for Watch Michelle talk about her style, her daughter Matilda and finally playing a goody in the video above. Plus to prove that Michelle DOES have the fashion gift, we have rounded up some of her best looks in the gallery below….

Oz the Great and Powerful is available on DVD and Blu-Ray, Monday 1st July.

Kim Sears Hits Wimbledon: See Her Best Courtside Looks

Posted on December 17, 2013 at 12:32 pm

Kate Middleton might be watching centre court and eating strawbs from the comfort of her sofa this year, but that doesn’t mean we’ll miss out on our Wimbledon Sloane style fix this year. Kim Sears will burst onto our style radar once again with her glossy pony hair and extensive collection of Mulberry bags. Forget the tennis, once again it’s Kim vs the Middletons as Pippa is setting up camp at centre court for the next two weeks.

Yes it’s that time of year again – prepare for a case of raging hair envy. Kim made her first Wimbledon appearance on Monday in a Zara blue blazer (which can be yours for just £79.99), dark denim jeans and Mulberry arm candy. LOVE. Murray’s number one fan was out again on Wednesday in a sunny yellow dress by Ted Baker and a denim jacket, with a pristine Mulberry Willow bag hanging over her arm. Then on Friday she wore a classic trench and jeans.

Today K Sears delivered another hit to watch Muzza play Mikhail Youzhny, in a floral dress by Zara with her trusty Willow in her hand. The pretty floral dress is only £49.99 but sadly has already sold out on the British site.  So the score at the moment is advantage to the Sears.

We’ve taken a look through the Wimbledon archives to brush up on her courtside staples. It’s all about the Mulbs leather, low key denim and relaxed sun dresses. It’s not only blowdries which make her in the same style tribe as Kim also recycles her courtside pieces – as she wore the same wooden platforms on Monday that she wore last year. Now we don’t say this very often, but with hair like that we’re usually not looking at her dress.

See Kim Sears’ best courtside looks in the gallery above. Keep your fingers crossed Murray makes it to the final so we get to see more of Kim and her shiny, shiny hair…
