Instagram Pics Of The Day: Karlie Kloss Celebrates Her 21st Birthday With Cara Delevingne, Jourdan Dunn and Derek Blasberg
Posted on April 28, 2014 at 2:49 pm
On Saturday we wished Jourdan Dunn a happy 23rd, but another milestone model birthday took place too. That’s right, this weekend Jourdan Dunn and her best friend and ‘twin’ Karlie Kloss raised a toast as Jourdan marked another year and Karlie reached the legal drinking age in her native USA. The 21-year-old was joined by friends and family at a swanky soiree organised by fashion writer Derek Blasberg at the recently refurbished Paramount Hotel in Times Square, where she guests included fellow models Tyra Banks, Joan Smalls, Cara Delevingne and Chanel Iman, as well as designer Cynthia Rowley, actress Emma Watson and Karlie’s boyfriend Joshua Kushner.
While the party may have drawn a who’s who of the fashion industry, guests of honour were KK’s close family who flew in from the Midwest where both she and Blasberg hail from. The model’s mum, dad, sisters Kristine, and twins Kimberly and Kariann and even Grannie Stella were there to watch the supermodel blow out 21 candles, wheel out two giant Karlie’s Kookies and hit the dancefloor with her famous pals from Emma Watson to Tyra Banks.
Blasberg said of Kloss on his blog: ‘Despite logging in more frequent flyer miles than even I can count in the past seven years, she has maintained a sweet charm that has made her one of the most popular ladies in the business.’
After the bash, Karlie visited Disneyland with her fam. The group wore matching Minnie Mouse ears in family photos taken at the themepark and Karlie revealed that she kicked off the day with ‘birthday balloons and breakfast in bed’. She also shared a tender father-daughter moment with her dad Kurt Kloss and captioned a pic: ‘I love you daddy. thank you for 21 years of love ❤ #DaddysLittleGirl’. Fashion’s equivalent of the Kardashians are so cute!
As well as celebrating her own birthday, Karlie also took the time to wish Jourdan a happy birthday too. She tweeted, ‘Happy Birthday to my birthday twin and Best Friend in the Whole Wide World @officialjdunn #JourlieForever’ while Dunn returned the favour with the message: ‘HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME AND MY OTHER HALF MY LOVER, MY SIS, MY EVERYTHING @karliekloss love ya babes!!!! #teamleowedabest’.

Gowns Galore! We Get Ready For The Love Ball 2013 With A Touch Of Oscar De La Renta
Posted on April 12, 2014 at 7:25 pm
When it comes to fashion fantasies, an invitation to attend the Love Ball is pretty much as good as it gets. The white tie ball is an annual fashion extravaganza where A-listers and royalty showcase their very biggest gowns. If you’ve ever wondered what kind if occasion demands those couture floorsweepers we see each season on the catwalk, here’s your answer.
The ball is the brainchild of Russian model and philanthropist Natalia Vodianova and is located in different glamorous locations each year. With a gala dinner, decadent catwalk shows and a charity auction the Ball, in aid of Natalia’s Naked Heart Foundation, attracts a star studded guestlist.
This year’s Love Ball will be under the high patronage of Albert II, Prince of Monaco, and Charlene, Princess of Monaco. It’s being held in Monaco, in the Opera Garnier de Monte Carlo and theme is 1960s Riviera – so we can expect some serious ritz along with the royalty.
So the big question is obviously, what to wear for such a swanky occasion After much head scratching and late night shoe changes, I decided on an enchanting strapless gown by Oscar de la Renta. With intricate sequin embellishment and a flattering tipped hem, the catwalk dress is absolutely perfect for mingling with princesses.
To keep it fresh, I’ve gone for harder accessories – a Christopher Kane clutch, Shourouk for Swarovski earrings and black patent Louboutins. But there were plenty of conundrums – would the gold Jimmy Choos be more appropriate or the rivet studded LK Bennetts Beauty-wise its all about undone elegance with plaits and deepest red nails and lips.
To follow our Love Ball coverage, stay tuned to our tweets and Instagram snaps on Grazia_Live – and come back for a full report of this evening’s Love Ball tomorrow!

Of Course John Galliano’s Stint At Oscar De La Renta Was Anna Wintour’s Idea
Posted on April 10, 2014 at 7:43 am
Much has been made of how John Galliano – the designer who was dismissed as Creative Director of Dior in 2010 after making anti-semetic remarks – was rehabilitated into the fashion world with his recent stint at Oscar de la Renta. The Parisian was drafted in to work on the latter stages of Oscar’s A/W 2013 New York Fashion Week collection – one that went down to rave reviews. At the time Oscar said that whilst 75% of the collection had been done by the time Galliano got there, he helped tweak it – and thus secured his first foot back in the door of designing.
Oscar de la Renta’s AW 2013 collection
Well now it emerges that – surprise, surprise! – the plan was Anna Wintour’s idea. ‘Well, Anna Wintour actually asked me if I would have John in my studio for three weeks and I said, “Yes of course,”’ Oscar revealed to CBS America’s morning news show this week. ‘I have known John for 30 years. Over 35 years. He’s a very talented man. And who has not done at one point in their life something bad John has had a lot of issues — health issues, abuse — but I like John. He’s a great guy and I was happy that I gave him that second chance and I hope that he will survive all of this because he is an extremely talented man.’

Since then of course Galliano has gone on to do that Vanity Fair interview and speak on TV about the demons of his dark days of alcohol abuse as small steps to getting his career back on track. Early signs are that it’s working. Oscar says he’d be keen to work with Galliano again and just a few weeks ago there were rumours that he was in the running to design theatrical costumes for Stephen Fry’s new London stage production of The Importance of Being Earnest.
Seems Anna – and Oscar – are rather good friends to have…

Let’s Analyse Cate Blanchett’s Red Carpet Fashion Marathon For ‘Blue Jasmine’
Posted on April 8, 2014 at 9:40 am
Not only is Cate Blanchett getting Oscar buzz for her role in Woody Allen’s new movie ‘Blue Jasmine’ but she’s proving her fashion credentials once again on the promotional tour, too. The Australian actress has been touring the US talking about playing the wife of a disgraced politician who is forced to uproot her high-society lifestyle and move back in with her sister. And she’s been wearing some stellar outfits to do it.
The trailer for Blue Jasmine
On the red carpet she’s opted for typically daring occasionwear like the blush pink Balenciaga futuristic dress and a strikingly simple Alexander McQueen monochrome number. But she’s not been neglecting her day-wear either. With her reptile-lapel trimmed Stella McCartney blazer, Chloe trousers and Tod’s bag, Cate put together the perfect airport chic combination. And she knows how to update that look for a TV appearance just hours later – adding some statement earrings, hers from Ryan Storer.
Carolina Herrera dressed Cate Blanchett for Blue Jasmine
Mind you, it’s not really a surprise she’s got her red carpet fashion marathon so right. Cate’s an actress that the fashion world have long been in love with. Karl Lagerfeld loves her so much he whipped up some bespoke jackets for her to wear on set of ‘Blue Jasmine’ at the last minute and Carolina Herrera dressed her in red duchess satin for the pivotal scene – where her character realizes her husband’s sexual philandering and fraud is about to be exposed.
Karl Lagerfeld also created costumes for Cate
But just because the fashion world is in love with Cate that doesn’t mean she doesn’t get insecure sometimes. She recently said she’d never seen herself as possessing movie star looks, even if she has flawless skin and cheekbones on which one could sharpen a pencil. ‘I didn’t think I was that girl. I’m peculiar-looking, I think,’ she told The Hollywood Reporter with a laugh. ‘I think it’s lucky as an actor that you can sometimes look decent-looking, and then you can also look strange and, dare I say, ugly. I think that’s good as an actor.’ Cate, we salute you!
