Posted on May 21, 2013 at 10:18 am
We’re desperately willing Spring to make an appearance and if you take a peek at this week’s issue you’ll see that Grazia towers we’ve taken matters into our own hands and decided that Spring has sprung! So, we’ve given you the ultimate guide to upgrading your make up bag ready for summer according to trends but check out our own favourites making their way into our make up bags right now!
Lauren Murdoch-Smith, Grazia’s Beauty Editor:
When it comes to Spring make-up, I like to add a splash of colour to compliment my faux tan. Not only does it enhance a tan, natural or fake, it also physiologically makes you feel summery, even if the weather outside is miserable.
1. I’m a blusher girl so any new blusher technology gets me excited. Sad I know! L’Oreal Nude Magique BB Blush in Universal Rosy Blush, £7.99 adapts to your skin on contact so that you achieve a natural glow. Neither matte or creamy, it’s the perfect heat buster, staying put all day long.
2. Although nude is the big nail story for summer, you still need to have a colour backs up, even if you reserve it for your toes. So my go-to summer shade is Chanel Le Vernis in Fracas, £18. A corally, pink, it’s the perfect hybrid of summer’s greatest nail colours.
3. I love a bit of liner but I’ll be switching my usual black for a navy. Not only is it less harsh and more flattering, this shadow, which I’ll be adapting to use as a liner, promises to last 15 hours which when it comes to styling out the tube ride to and from work, is a life saver Smashbox Limitless 15 Hour Wear Cream Shadow in Sapphire, £15
Rose Beer, Grazia’s Beauty Writer:
1. One of my summer’s resolutions is to be more daring when it comes to my makeup. The amazing new NARS Satin Lip Pencil in Luxembourg, £17.50 is helping me on my way. Sitting somewhere between red and deep pink it works really well with fair skin and hair, is super easy to apply and has great staying power too.
2. There’s nothing like a pretty pedicure to make me think of spring and ESSIE Nail Lacquer in Watermelon, £7.95 is the shade currently gracing my toes.
3. I have recently switched my tinted moisturiser for the amazing L’Oreal Paris Nude Magique Anti Redness CC Cream, £9.99 after picking one up backstage at the autumn/winter shows. Its skin-evening properties and subtle bronze glow are the best I have seen for ages.
Angelica Hermon, Grazia’s Beauty Co-Ordinator
1. I don’t think I’ve fallen in love with a fragrance as much as I have with this floral number. It screams Summer and is a much more modern take on a feminine floral – expect a light scent with more body and depth to it. It’s my most exciting beauty addition yet and I can’t stop spritzing! Byredo Inflorescnce Eau De Parfum, £130
2. Chanel have just launched a new mascara which is music to my ears as I am a total wand junkie. This one is actually a soft maroon shade which is not only on trend for SS13 but very flattering on blue eyes too. I like to add extra volume by doing two layers of it. Chanel Le Volume Mascara, £23
3. Anything glossy and pink catches my eye and right now it’s all about this lip loveliness. It’s not too heavily pigmented so makes for the perfect day time lip update and it keeps lips nourished and moisturised in these freezing temperatures too. Bobbi Brown Tube Tint in Pink Cloud, £14

Oscars 2013: All The Best Beauty Looks From The Red Carpet
Posted on May 7, 2013 at 7:10 pm
The 2013 Oscar Awards are underway and a bevvy of beauties have already arrived on the red carpet (have you picked your best dressed have you have you).
Kelly Osbourne was one of the first to appear with her glossy purple hair swept into a sleek retro-tastic bun and matched with a coral pink lip. As for Kelly Rowland, the Destiny’s Child singer opted for a towering up-do and blunt fringe that would put J-Lo to shame.
Brit girl Louise Roe is doing us proud with a side-swept wavy ponytail, nude lips and mega eyeliner on her peepers to complement her glam gown. Alicia Vikander, Jennifer Garner and Samantha Barks also looked fab sporting wavy up-dos.
In the pink lip corner, we have Anne Hathaway complementing her pretty Prada gown, Kristen Stewart keeping it simple and Nicole Kidman bringing a splash of colour to her ensemble. Meanwhile, Jessica Chastain and Olivia Munn amped up the glam with the red carpet staple: bold, scarlet lips.
But the biggest beauty trend thus far Surely the side-swept waves as seen on everyone from Catherine Zeta Jones to Reese Witherspoon. What more do you need to secure classic Hollywood glamour
On the red carpet, Jennifer Hudson offered her top beauty tip: ‘Make sure you bring your lips with you and keep your lipstick in your bag,’ the actress said. ‘Find what you want to accent, it’s more about the eyes than the lips for me tonight.’

Oscars 2013: Charlize Theron Reveals Her Grown Out ‘Buzzed’ Haircut
Posted on May 5, 2013 at 12:02 pm
Charlize Theron revealed her latest hairstyle on the Academy Awards red carpet tonight. The actress shaved off her tresses in June last year for her role in the movie Mad Max: Fury Road, but has been diligently growing it out over the last three months and has recently bleached her mousey brown locks blonde. Beautiful Charlize, who let’s face it could probably pull off a clown wig, said at the time of the shaving: ‘It’s been three years: It’s time to skin this cat already! I’m very excited about it.’
The South African star teamed her new do with a stunning Dior Couture gown and Harry Winston jewels. Speaking about her crop with E!’s Live from the Red Carpet presenters she explained: ‘I buzzed it for Fury Road and this is almost three months of growth, I had nothing, like a number two, every woman should do it.’ Not only is Theron’s short hair a weight off her neck, it has also given the actress an opportunity to clear out her bathroom cabinet. She confessed: ‘I had two bags full of hair products that I’ve donated to charity including hairdryers and straighteners.’ One woman’s trash, we guess…
Charlize had one of the most dramatic hair transformations of 2012, alongside fellow Oscars attendee Anne Hathaway. Check out more in the gallery below…

Oscars 2013: The Top 10 Hair & Beauty Trends On The Red Carpet
Posted on May 3, 2013 at 2:48 pm
Last night was undoubtedly our favourite night of the year, the Oscars! Now we’ve very kindly gone through all the best beauty looks already for you but what about the trends you ask Well, we’ve only gone and dont that too for you. Read on to see the top Oscars beauty trends…
Anne Hathaway; Nicola Kidman
1. Pink Lips
A pink lip is one of Anne Hathaway’s favourite beauty rules – whenever there’s a big event she is the first to rock a pinky shade. Last night was no exception and along with Nicole Kidman, her lips were the talk of the night. Shying away from the very hot/neon shade that was on the SS13 catwalks, the actresses went for more flattering soft pink shades to warm their complexions and add depth to their makeup. We love!
Catherine Zeta-Jones; Reese Witherspoon
2. Wave-Mania
Our fave hair look came in the form of some killer voluminous waves. Yep, spotted on a few of the A-list – most stylishly so on Catherine and Reese – it’s a look that works really well for the red carpet as its a little too formal for day to day. To hold the style in place, a decent amount of hairspray is required and as you can see from these two, you want the waves to stay firmly in place so that they are almost like firm curls.
Olivia Munn; Jessica Chastain
3. Red Lips
Now it’s never that surprising to spot a nice rouge lip at the Oscars – a classic colour to match the carpet, well why not. Olivia and Jessica got it spot on with their textbook perfect mouths last night and this stylish look gets top marks from us. It never fails to disappoint and is an easy way to instantly liven up your face, whiten teeth and add glamour to your beauty look.
Amanda Seyfried; Naomi Watts
4. Quiffs Go Classic
Now we know the word quiff springs to mind a young, tom-boy type teenager who is feeling a little confused but when you see beauties Amanda and Naomi working a more classic take on the ahir-do, you can see how it works. Far from the masculine style it used to be, this looks both chic and on-trend and works perfectly on there two. Not only does it add heigh to the hair but it lifts the face a little too, creating a flattering ‘lift’effect.
Jennifer Lawrence; Salma Hayek
5. Smoke It Up
Along with the red lip, the only other beauty look that is a total failsafe for the Oscars is a gorgeous smoky eye. As seen on both award-winning Jennifer Lawrence and Salma, it is a makeup trend that is a flattering and sexy focal point for the face. These two chose very dark black colours for theirs (remember you have to pile on the makeup much more at rec carpet events) and it’s worked really well on both of them. Nice work ladies…
Jennifer Garner; Kerry Washington
6. Centre Stage
There were all sorts of hair-do’s going down last night and all sorts of different partings too – side ones, middle ones, upwards ones… but we have to say that the onbes that caught our eye the most were the centre partings. As seen on Jennifer and Kerry, a centre parting is easy to wear and looks fab too. It give the face symmetry (which is supposedly the pinnacle of all beauty) and is flattering too.
Halle Berry; Adele
7. High Five For Falsies
We spotted some killer false lashes last night and top of our list was Halle and Adele. Halle went for neat falsies that matched her own length whilst Adele went all out with full-on high impact ones that really opened up her eyes and dazzled the red carpet. Once you’ve applied some killer falsies, you can be a little more lazy about your eyeshadow as they do most of the work for you. Both Halle and Adele have gone easy of the eye colour, keeping attention on their model-worthy long lashes.
Charlize Theron; Sandra Bullock
8. New Nudes
We have to say we really enjoyed some of the beautiful nudes at the Oscars. Aside from rouge or pinks, a simple nude lip can work brilliantly. Just like you can see on Charlize and Sandra, it’s a feminine look that looks elegant and fresh too. As it’s quite an easy one to do at home, the key is to get a glossy shade that will give lips a shine. Or else, apply your colour and add a layer of clear gloss over the top.
Anne Hathaway; Jennifer Lawrence
9. Mannequin Manicures
We spotted a few mannequin mani’s last night too, most noticeably on two of the winners, Anne and Jennifer. Not only is this bang on trend for SS13 but it’s an easy and wearable option to go for. If the girls don’t know what they will be wearing, a simple nude shade is going to go with anything so it’s one thing out of the way when they are getting prepped. Plus it’s elegant and simple and well, quite frankly, gorgeous.
Emmy Rossum; Salma Hayek
10. The St. Tropez Glow
There’s only one way to flaunt the red carpet and it’s with a good tan so the A-list look no further than tanning experts St. Topez who took up residance in LA over the weekend. Both Emmy and Salma were glowing and golden last night and it’s all thanks to the magic backstage brand who prepped and primed them both. Emmy’s soft and subtle sheen is down to St. Tropez One Night Only Instant Glow Body Lotion whilst Salma’s deep honey tone is thanks to St. Tropez Bronzing Mousse. Radiant in all senses of the word…
