Get the Spring Look This March

Posted on March 16, 2016 at 5:51 pm

The days are getting longer and spring is definitely in the air. At the first signs of summer, we immediately begin to think about looking our best for the coming season. Which looks are going to be popular this spring and what are the must-have items?

Blue is the colour to accessorise with this season according to all the fashion magazines. Wear it as a statement eye shadow, choose a blue handbag or make a statement in electric blue jewellery. It will brighten up any outfit.

The colours for spring are definitely bright, and statement lipsticks are also in. Pinks, oranges and reds will all work, as long as they are vibrant. Finish the look off with a flawless complexion to make your lips really stand out. A good concealer and foundation should do the trick.

Spring hair is loose, wavy and casual. Whether it’s a messy plait or a tousled bun, it will work perfectly with your everyday look. These looks are all easy to create as well, which is an added bonus.

Shiny is a strong look this season. But we’re not talking about hair for once, we’re talking about skin. With highlighted cheekbones and glossy eyelids, you’ll be radiant and glowing. Just be careful not to overdo it or you will end up looking greasy.

Spray-On Nail Colour

Posted on February 18, 2016 at 11:58 am

Everyone likes to have pretty nails, but it can be a real pain to paint them. Traditional nail colours are messy, take ages to dry, smudge or chip too easily and dry up in the bottle. There’s now a brand new way of getting a nail colour without the mess and hassle. Nail colour is available in a spray can.

Unfortunately, you will still need to apply a base and top coat of polish, however this is far more simple than waiting around for multiple layers of thick sticky paint to dry. You can also apply the spray over an existing layer of polish for a colour change.

Once your base coat is dry, you can simply spray the paint straight onto your nails. Of course, it won’t be particularly precise but any excess paint can be washed off. Apply your top coat, wait for it to dry and then you’ll easily be able to remove the excess.

Using a spray-on nail polish is far neater than painting with a brush. You can avoid streaks and blobs, and you won’t have the inevitable one hand neater than the other look. Spray-on paint can be bought cheaply and easily online.

Don’t Use Shampoo and Conditioner

Posted on June 26, 2015 at 1:36 pm

It can be a bit counter-intuitive, but there are apparently quite a large number of people who swear by not using any shampoo or conditioner. They claim that this is actually a very good way of maintaining your hair’s quality.

If you look at the facts, there are a variety of ingredients inside shampoos and conditioners which have been scientifically proven to have a positive impact on our hair. Well, at least they’ve proven to haveĀ  positive impact on what people care about regarding their hair; fullness, greasiness, split ends and more.

On the other side of things; you’ll often find that some of the most highly prized hair extension products come from women from poor parts of the world where they have no access to any hair products, so it does look like there is some truth to how not using shampoo can be good for you.

You may be asking where this trend developed from? In fact, included within those swearing by how good this strategy of hair maintenance is, there are a number of famous celebrities who have also used this technique to win the battle against their hair, including Jennifer Aniston, Amanda Seyfried and more.

So why does this work? The theory behind the idea is actually that the grease and natural oils which are naturally produced by your body are actually really good for your hair. So while you may be constantly battling against greasy hair, if you left it alone your hair quality would probably improve. Although, if you decide to start this as well, the process can take weeks or even months of your hair looking bad before you start to see a benefit.

Filing Your Nails The Correct Way

Posted on April 20, 2015 at 10:36 am

You may think it’s an easy task, but there are so many people who file their nails incorrectly. This often leads to weakened, damaged nails. Read on to see if you follow the correct procedures.

Once you’ve decided the preferred shape of your nail, the first thing you should do is wash your hands thoroughly. This is to remove any dirt. Make sure to dry your nails before you start filing.

When filing your nails, you should file from the outside of the nail towards the centre. DO NOT file your nail back and forth, as this can break your nail. Many people unknowingly do this, causing damage to their nails. When filing, make sure not to be too forceful as this can again damage your nails.

Removing Acrylic Nails With… Dental Floss

Posted on February 25, 2015 at 3:48 pm

Want to learn how to remove your acrylic nails with dental floss? Of course you do!

Before you start, bear in mind you will need an extra set of hands. So don’t do anything without having a friend near you. Use a cuticle stick and slightly pry up the bottom edge of your nail and then get the extra set of hands to slide the dental floss under the edge. As it will be tough at first, move the dental floss back and forth to loosen the nail, but make sure not to do it too quickly otherwise your natural nail may get damaged!

Once done, buffer your nails as the process of removal may have damaged the nails slightly.
